You Can EndureAccording to WHO approximately one million people worldwide die by suicide each year. That is about one death every 40 seconds or 3,000 per day. For each individual who takes his/her own life, at least 20 attempt to do so. Suicide has a global mortality rate of 16 per 100,000 people.
Behind that number are people who suffered daily. Behind that number are millions of lives that were affected by the devastation of losing a friend or loved one. Studies of suicide victims have shown that more than half had sought medical help in the six months prior to their deaths. Almost all displayed warning signs that were either missed or discounted. The majority of people who consider suicide do not want to die. They see suicide as a solution to a problem and a way to end their suffering. People who seriously consider suicide feel hopeless, helpless, and worthless. The person who feels hopeless believes that no one can help with a particular event or problem. The person who feels helpless is immobilized and unable to take steps to solve problems. The person who feels worthless is overwhelmed with a sense of personal failure. Remember. You are never hopeless, helpless, or worthless. This site was designed for those who need help and those who want to help. It's an arrow to point you in the right direction. If you are feeling suicidal, help is there. If you are recovering from losing someone, help is there. |
