The Alliance of Hope for Suicide Survivors provides healing support for people who have lost loved ones to suicide. It was founded in 2008 by Ronnie Walker, a licensed clinical mental health counselor who lost her stepson to suicide in 1995.
Suicide Prevention
The Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC) is the nation’s only federally supported resource center devoted to advancing the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention. They provide technical assistance, training, and materials to increase the knowledge and expertise of suicide prevention practitioners and other professionals serving people at risk for suicide. They also promote collaboration among a variety of organizations that play a role in developing the field of suicide prevention.

Their mission is to offer understanding, support, information, connections, and hope to anyone whose life has been affected by the suicide of another person. FFOS is an all volunteer community, lead by special members called moderators.
The Parents of Suicide is a mailing list that provides an e-mail support group for parents whose children have died of suicide. It is intended to provide a place where parents can discuss the lives and deaths of their children with other parents whose children have died by suicide. It is also intended to be a place where mother and fathers can freely share their own experiences and feelings in an emotionally supportive atmosphere.
The Suicide Grief Support Forum is a public message board, an outreach project of the Parents of Suicides (POS) and Friends and Families of Suicides (FFOS) Internet Communities. Their mission is to provide information, support and comfort to anyone whose life has been touched by the suicide of another person. Connecting with others who have walked the same road can sometimes make a difference in how we survive a tragedy that may be incomprehensible.
The mission of The Compassionate Friends: When a child dies, at any age, the family suffers intense pain and may feel hopeless and isolated. The Compassionate Friends provides highly personal comfort, hope, and support to every family experiencing the death of a son or a daughter, a brother or a sister, or a grandchild, and helps others better assist the grieving family. The Compassionate Friends was founded over 40 years ago when a chaplain at the Warwickshire Hospital in England brought together two sets of grieving parents and realized that the support they gave each other was better than anything he, as a chaplain, could ever say or provide. Meeting around a kitchen table, the Lawleys and the Hendersons were joined by a bereaved mother and the chaplain, Simon Stephens, and The Society of the Compassionate Friends was born. The Compassionate Friends jumped across the ocean and was established in the United States and incorporated in 1978 in Illinois.
The Dougy Center for Grieving Children & Families works through their National Center for Grieving Children and Families and provides support and training locally, nationally and internationally to individuals and organizations seeking to assist children in grief.
Friends For Survival, Inc. is a national non-profit organization that provides a variety of peer support services to comfort those in grief, encourage healing and growth, foster the development of skills to cope with a loss and educate the entire community regarding the impact of suicide. All staff and volunteers have been directly impacted by a suicide death.

"We're Talking!" was developed by the Adolescent Interest Group (AIG) of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF). The group is composed of PAMF physicians, social workers, educators and researchers concerned with addressing the health care needs of adolescents. AIG members volunteer countless hours to review Web content and create new material to ensure the site continues to provide teens with comprehensive, up-to-date health information. Also contributing to the site include are a group of teens that comprise the Summer Wellness Education and Training for Teens (SWEAT) Institute.
The goal of the American Association of Suicidology (AAS) is to understand and prevent suicide. They accomplish this mission by directing efforts to Advance Suicidology as a science; encouraging, developing and disseminating scholarly work in suicidology. Encourage the development and application of strategies that reduce the incidence and prevalence of suicidal behaviors. Compile, develop, evaluate and disseminate accurate information about suicidal behaviors to the public. Foster the highest possible quality of suicide prevention, intervention and postvention to the public. Publicize official AAS positions on issues of public policy relating to suicide. Promote research and training in suicidology.
SAVE: Suicide Awareness Voices of Education is an organization dedicated to education about suicide and mental illness. The organization was founded by survivors and their website contains a “Coping with Loss” section for survivors.
